Permit Specialist II
Job Description
Job Summary
Responsible for overseeing/monitoring the permit process to ensure Expansion New Build construction, repair, and system maintenance activities are completed in accordance with established standards. Builds and maintains relationships with local, county and state municipalities as well as utility and other telecon providers. Responsible for managing applications, timelines and ensures progress-to-plan, as well as strong communication with project manager to track project status. Works with vendors and team to establish and achieve goals. Has developed knowledge and skills in own discipline. Still acquiring higher level skills. Works with moderate guidance in own area of knowledge.
Core Responsibilities
Assists Supervisor and Manager in day-to-day construction coordination.
Assists Government affairs with Franchise, ROW and BPU agreements
Prioritizes and monitors several ongoing separate construction projects.
Acts as liaison between Design and Planning Departments in the construction of residential and commercial locations.
Applies and acquires permits and/or easements for new building, maintenance, pole relocation and drops for state, county, or private roads. Researches easements at country records office, determines true ownership of property and processes proper documentation for County taxation and deed filing.
Researches and analyzes maps for planning purposes. Provides mapping to Utility Engineers
Visits customers' homes to finalize easement notarization, if necessary.
Handles underground, poles, railroad, and DOT Permit Applications
Works within team to have power supplies marked and then applies for all permits with utility and municipality then manages and tracks install and inspections
Monitors and processes invoices and tracks expenses. Maintains files and logs in accordance with established procedures. Prepares and submits weekly reports and calls.
Ensures public relations issues are fully resolved.
Monitors Miss Utility tickets and determines if affected area is underground or aerial cables. Initiates locators to visually inspect. Distributes emergency tickets for line technicians and makes all necessary phone calls to clear tickets.
Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Must-haves:
Proficient with tracking milestones, deliverables, maintaining timelines and monitoring budgets
Strong experience with MS Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
Experience working with cross functional teams
Finance knowledge or experience
Understanding of general permitting processes
