Immunology Research
Summary: This position will support the Diagnostics Research function in work to research new antigen manufacturing sciences processes, work closely with the Research team on laboratory work and other project tasks. The incumbent will be utilizing a variety of molecular biology techniques in a research capacity, including restriction enzyme digestion, ligation and transformation in bacteria, small-scale and large-scale protein preparations, preparation of competent yeast/bacteria, transformation of yeast/bacteria, and preparation of frozen seedstocks. Primary responsibilities for role:
Setting up bacterial or yeast cultures, extracting recombinant protein from the transformed cells using glass bead lysis or microfluidizer.
Protein biochemical analysis by Western Blot, SDS-PAGE, SEC-MALS, DLS, etc. Protein purification via different chromatography methods (IEX, IMAC, SEC, HIC, etc.)
Propose and execute on scientific methods for issue resolution related to microbial expression experiments. Independently execute on experiments with minimal direction.
Other lab related duties including: detailed, accurate record keeping, maintaining lab equipment and laboratory supplies and working with glassware support staff. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Significant working knowledge of protein purification, protein quantification End Point assays (Bradford/BCA/Lowry),
Strong technical laboratory, protein analytical, and microbial expression skills
Strong presentation skills and able to articulate findings to various levels to management. Excellent knowledge of MS-Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. Education:
Minimum: Bachelor s degree in Biology, Chemistry or related scientific field;Ph.D. Preferred. Experience:
Minimum 5 years experience in molecular biology and biochemistry techniques
Minimum 3 years experience working in a pharmaceutical, HealthCare or diagnostics research position
