Job Description

The Senior Research Expert/Principle Expert, Translational Sciences (TLS), will develop and implement specialized tissue-based assays (including multiplex assays and image analysis) to support specific portfolio related hypotheses and biomarker development. The successful candidate will manage the day-to-day operations of the IHC laboratory and perform image processing and analysis. We are looking for a highly motivated scientist to work in a collaborative laboratory environment to Client and develop robust biomarkers for use in human clinical studies.

Summary of the Essential Functions of the Job
Develop and execute histopathology assays including single and multiplex immunohistochemistry (IHC), in situ hybridization (ISH), both colorimetric and fluorescent, and other emerging techniques using our automated platforms.
Perform image analysis and quantification to characterize target expression, interrogate tumor microenvironment and aid in tissue based biomarker identification.
Work as part of a cross functional team to provide tissue-based assay development for target qualification, pharmacodynamic and efficacy readouts, and biomarker development.
Demonstrate a high level of scientific independence in the planning and execution of complex laboratory assignments at the project level.
Independently manage workload across multiple projects while effectively aligning resources based on key priorities.
Assimilate data and insight in real-time to recognize when an experimental approach needs to be adjusted/changed to deliver optimal results.
Troubleshoot and overcome complex problems in specialized procedures.
Incorporate proper quality controls and best practices to produce high-quality work.
Develop a reputation as an insightful and impactful scientist by preparing and presenting comprehensive technical or project reports and giving formal presentations to internal audience.
Keep current with emerging trends in scientific discipline.
Understands the role of other functional areas in the laboratory and partners with them to maximize best practices and laboratory efficiencies.
Completes all assigned laboratory duties in a timely manner and effectively resolves technical issues.
Follow company safety practices, including training, lab safety, and record keeping as appropriate.

Minimum Requirements
B.Sc., M.Sc. Or Ph.D. In molecular biology, cellular biology or related subject area with 10+ years of experience.
Experience with standard histology procedures including processing and embedding human and mouse tissue, sectioning, H&E staining and other specialty stains.
Significant hands-on experience in a variety of pathology-based methodologies including IHC, multiplex IHC, ISH, immunofluorescence imaging, and digital pathology/image analysis.
Strong scientific background with practical experience, and excellent verbal and written communications skills
Self-motivated and highly organized with ability to work on multiple projects.
Strong computer skills are essential.
Excellent interpersonal skills, able to work in a team-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications
B.Sc. Or M.Sc. With 15+ years or Ph.D. With 10+ years of experience, in molecular pathology in an industry setting.
Proficient at IHC assays for single-plex chromogenic and fluorescence, as well as multi-plex IHC and IF using our automated platforms.
Experience in running ISH assays using RNAScope and BaseScope probes and/or spatial transcriptomics using the Nanostring CosMx or 10X Visium/Xenium platforms.
Expertise in documentation, analysis, interpretation and presentation of data generated from tissue-based target expression experiments with a variety of statistical approaches.
Experience in digital imaging system (slide scanning and image analysis).
Understanding of the scientific basis and technical details of a variety of multiplexed imaging methods, fluorescent dyes and filters optimization, and whole slide scanning.
Familiarity with image analysis software packages such as ImageJ, InForm, QPath, Halo or VisioPharm.
